Those that had a sneak preview of the New Fixtures at the Presentation – Please Note they have been changed and there is still some doubt over Team Names as yet. The 20th December has been set as a Finance Meeting and is also to be used to catch up any cancelled games before the Half way Point at Xmas so that the Shadow League can start clearly defined in the New Year. The KO’s have been rearranged from last year so that players will not have long breaks without matches except for the 3rd January for those who want to miss the Dave Rowlands because they still have a Hang Over! Presentation Night and the A.G.M. have been swapped around so that moneys paid out/collected/owing can be clearly defined at the following A.G.M.

it has come to my attention that i did not include 3rd august in the fixtures, so to try and please everybody i have had a few discussions and made some changes, hopefully they suit peoples requests

the night started off pretty good with no hick ups.draws were done for the quarter finals of the league and bass cup in front of everyone, also the draw for the doubles.
then the last 32 battled it out, no real surprises at this stage, apart from Selby beating Skin with some great darts being thrown. unfortunately Baz Aston and Eamonn couldn't make it due to work and Nige Cox couldn't make it due to a bad back.
But tonight Kev Jones, Wayne Mayers and Gaz Marsh showing they meant business, along with Mark Hylton. the last 8 saw Selby, Martin Roberts, Grant Cowie, Geof Tatlor, Mark Hylton, Wayne Mayers, Kev Jones and Gaz Marsh going through, Gaz was hitting 180's for fun and taking out 161 for a 12 dart leg.
Quarter finals saw Kev Jones Brush aside Selby, Mark Hylton takes out Gaz Marsh, what a match. Young Martin Roberts takes out Wayne, Grant just beats Geof
Semi Final sees Mark cruise past young Martin and Grant just beats Kev suprisingly.
The final was one sided but great to watch, no wonder Peachy volunteered to mark this one. Mark went out in 14 and 11 which gave him an average of 120.4 even i would of struggled tostay with him, haven't practiced for a couple of weeks.
well done Mark and everybody who was there, Wayne won the card, thanks to libby's for the food and the venue

With regards to the Dave Rowland’s Competition.
The idea of all games being played at one venue was right (Members Request). The venue was good, the staff were great and the members were great. 8 boards to use made it the perfect night!
However this was not the case, we only had 4 boards which was my fault, the draw was delayed also my fault. I will learn from my mistakes. What I take from this is that 127 people entered the competition and only 67 turned up, is it possible to plan a night when half the people who enter have no intention of turning up? If it had been played at 8 separate venues there would have been about 6 players at each venue, this would have created a poor atmosphere which is no good for the pub or the league. In future I will plan nights better and if I put my name down I will turn up, sorry for any inconvenience. Next time I will stand up and be counted

Can i say a big thank you to all that attended the night to make it such a success. Thank you to Layton Buglar for coming out to present all the trophy's.
Well done to The Pear Tree club, never in the leagues history has a team done the clean sweep. Nor has a person done the individual sweep in 301, 501, doubles, captains cup and highest finish, all of which went to the Pear tree captain and your chairman Willy Hall. A credit to him and his team, all of which was done in a sporting manor.

A top quality performance from a top quality bloke. W.Hall amazed me by winning a full house, with the help of skin he won the doubles crown, then a solid performance to win the Alaxander Lodge, then he raised it one more step to lift the Dave Rowlands. well done to all finalists as well as Will.

Blow me down the Pear Tree Club managed to lift the Colin Bugular trophy the following week, well done lads excellent season.

Don't forget to support Sarah on her charity night at Libby's on Monday 4th August at 7.30pm.

Firstly I must say I was disappointed with the turnout at most venues. Mind you its your money I suppose.
Next year it may be worth playing on one night, one venue with several boards like in the past. Worth thinking about!

The last eight then:
No surprises at all!
Hit and miss got through at the Pear Tree Club, The chair had a tough battle but won at Libby’s.
Rock steadily sailed through at The Castle, Ginger Tom went through well at the Red Lion.
The Translator went through at The Prince, Doctor Secretary breezed through at The Swan of course.
Mini Mountain won at The Globe, yes the high flyer glided through at The Plough.

The Rock gets crushed

At Libby's last night Barry Aston turned The Rock to rubble but to be fair to the rock he's on holiday when its Finals night so his heart wasn't up for it.

Has it happened Nige Cox won the night there, skin cruised through at the Castle, as did Mr Chair Willy Hall.

Then steady Mr Gormley shone through at the Prince to give Pear Tree Club 4 players through to finals night. They are joined by young Goslings Martin Hayward from the Swan and tiny Ryan Herrington also from the Swan. Mr Reliable Steve Boulton won through to represent The Castle.

To complete the eight its no high flyers Mark Hylton from the Prince, what a finals night that will be.

Bass cup started off bad for me when everyone told me we were away to Pear Tree club, with no sandwiches. Then as we got in the minibus, Pear Tree club turned up at our place to play the game. Yes we was at home, must be my age!!!!

The Rock was solid again as he beat Ant to raise the gate to 4-1.

The prince put out a very weak team and only 5 players lost, 5-2 to Plough A.
Web master Alan won 2-0 again to give Libby’s a 5-2 win over The Red Lion despite Jonny G losing 2-0 again.
The Cully reprobates sailed through 4-1 against Plough B despite one or two differences.

Don’t forget the Handicap Cup next week all at Libby’s.

As we approach the end of the league programme.
Well done to the chairman, Will Hall on winning the captains cup, and the Britannia on winning the shadow league. The title will be decided at the Pear tree club who play the Prince of Wales, good luck and I hope it’s a good night.
You will have your list of players and venues for the knock outs; the draw is as it is laid out. However on the night the proper layout will be at the venue for the official (to fill in), if there are any problems just ask.
As we finish all the remaining fixtures, I need to remind you that all outstanding money must be paid. Don’t forget that captains that have signed extra players or transfers also need payments.
Trophies must be returned back to me so I can get them ready.

The Colin Buglar champions cup will be held on 16th July at Libby's
Teams will be posted this week when i have spoken to league winners.

Any teams who owe when it comes to the handicap cup, they will not play in it.
Late cards still missing means that we cannot complete the league table and we will not be able to play the handicap cup. so please get your cards in.

Colin Buglar Champions Cup

This will be a new competition for the league and will be challenged for at the end of every season.
Format
The league winners will play 7 singles against the best of the rest. League winners can add 2 players to their team to stengthen their side, after best of the rest have been picked. This year Rob and Glyn Buglar will pick the team as we have no records compiled of all players in the leagues performance. Next year we will have a league table of most wins running throughout the season. The top 7 at the end of the season will be the team to play against the league champions. Everybody will have something to play for all season. What do you all think of this?
